Voting will start on July 22 at 11 am CET and will close on July 29 at 11 am CET.
UPDATE: The Governance vote is closed. Option A (“Yes, I support the PlanetWatch proposal for a permanent 100% increase for the max rewards per stream for Type 2 sensors”) won with 73% of the votes.
Our API release marks PlanetWatch’s ability to start selling relevant data to companies and public organizations in a scalable way with the aim of fostering data-led problem-solving initiatives.
We believe the first opportunity for this is in the outdoor air quality data domain and that is the reason why we are submitting to a governance vote, the second proposal in PlanetWatch’s history for a White Paper change.
We expect that additional governance votes will take place in the upcoming weeks.
We are proposing to implement a permanent 100% increase for the max rewards per stream for Type 2 sensors.
In practice, if the vote goes through, the reward rates of the White Paper would be modified as shown in the tables below:
Since the overall reward budget is unchanged, the proposed changes would modify the Type 2 saturation point:
Following the release of our API, now is the time to speed up our outdoor coverage of key cities worldwide. The goal is to quickly increase sensor density, ensuring that our air quality data are truly “hyperlocal”, enabling the detection of localized pollution hotspots.
“Hyperlocality” is a key differentiator between our data offer and alternative products, which lack a hyperlocal sensor network and rely on algorithmic interpolation between data points from sparse sensors.
Type 2 devices are affordable and deliver important data on PM 2.5 and PM 10, so they are the perfect complement to Type 1 devices. By doubling the Planets reward rate for Type 2 sensors, we aim to boost their deployment and achieve “hyperlocality” faster.
It is important to note this change in Type 2 reward rates would not affect in any way rewards for other sensor types.
Please follow the steps below in order to vote.
Note: it is mandatory to hold at least 0.1 Algos on deposit in your wallet for each asset you own.
Option A(address: HRO2KOB6WH5SHHLGAEYCEFAL5CRLZ3RPELQJNZC3BWDZ5O35TFJYFGBJSM)Yes, I support the PlanetWatch proposal for a permanent 100% increase for the max rewards per stream for Type 2 sensors.
Option B (address: SBMOMATMGVAAJGMDQOZM3CYH6KS7YZBTKGF4DJCUQLW622VUIMFRHVRY7Q)No, I do not support the PlanetWatch proposal for a permanent 100% increase for the max rewards per stream for Type 2 sensors.
If Option A wins the governance vote, type 2 sensors rewards will be updated on August 3rd, 2022.
Your voting power is expressed via the number of voting tokens that you will receive. This number depends on the aggregate reputation score for all sensors linked to your email address as of July 21.
As you know, in the PlanetWatch ecosystem voting power is related to sensor reputation, i.e. power is accumulated by operating sensors that stream useful data. This is very different from most other ecosystems, where voting power is directly attached to wealth via the number of tokens held.
We will soon roll out a series of tests with a group of 50 PlanetWatchers (selected based on their position on the Type 2 waiting list) who will get a free Type 2 device and become Beta Testers.
Additionally, a blog post will be published soon to let you know more about the price and specs of the new device.
Do not forget to submit your vote – this is a great opportunity to make yourself heard!
