Discover the key features and specs of our brand new Type 2 air monitoring device.
Dear PlanetWatchers,
We are glad to announce that a new Type 2 outdoor device will soon be made available worldwide, and you’ll be able to buy it directly on TEA Group’s e-commerce website.
This device will be instrumental in expanding our outdoor air quality monitoring network and building a green data economy.
Enter Turtle, an affordable air quality monitor that measures temperature, humidity, and hazardous particulate matter (PM 2.5 and PM 10).
By buying and deploying the Turtle, first of all, you will be able to monitor the quality of the air around you through some analytics displayed on PlanetWatch’s App. In addition, data from your device will contribute to building the global PlanetWatch knowledge base, helping local authorities get a more accurate picture of air quality in the area and foster data-led decisions (while earning Planets rewards – see below).
The new Turtle device is powered by solar energy, so you can save energy and deploy it wherever you like, even if it’s far from power sockets.
Air temperature: from -20ºC to 70ºCAir humidity: 0-100%Measurements: PM 2.5 and PM 10 (0-999μg /m3)GPS: NMEA standard

The next strategic goal for PlanetWatch is to start scaling data sales, which is being facilitated by the introduction of our very own API.
The release of this new affordable Type 2 creates an excellent opportunity for all PlanetWatchers wishing to get a share of future outdoor data sales in the pixel where their device is deployed.
It is important to note that, unlike Type 1 sensors, up to five Type 2 sensors such as Turtle can be deployed in the same pixel and achieve lead status, receiving full rewards as per White Paper terms.
It is also worth recalling that following a recent governance vote, a permanent 100% increase for the max rewards per stream for Type 2 sensors was implemented.
